The SCREEN is black, but then words appear:

INSCRIPTION
An old, old legend states
that Loch Ness has...

...Waves without wind...
...A fish without fin...
...And a floating island.
DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. OUTER SPACE - THE PLANET EARTH

THE CAMERA TRACKS THROUGH SPACE AND DESCENDS TOWARDS THE CONTINENT OF EUROPE as the SOUNDTRACK (a cacophonous mix of new age techno & traditional bagpipe hymns) commences.
A deep, robust male VOICE, embodied with a Scottish accent, narrates the prologue.
NARRATOR
The Earth is old and possesses many
secrets. These secrets are the core
foundations of the mysteries that
make the world an intriguing place.

THE CAMERA SWOOPS OVER THE BRITISH ISLES AND DUCKS BENEATH MASSIVE CLOUD BANKS TOWARDS NORTHERN SCOTLAND

NARRATOR
Of all the mysteries that Mother Earth
possesses, one of the most intriguing
is that of Loch Ness; the dark, murky
lake in Northern Scotland.

Loch NESS is located on a diagonal, north-to-south tangent that dramatically cuts the Scottish Higlands in half.

THE CAMERA REACHES THE SOUTHERN-MOST TIP OF THE LONG LAKE AND TRAVERSES NORTHWARDS MERE FEET ABOVE THE SURFACE

NARRATOR
The freshwater loch is 24 miles long
and 1 mile wide. It is the largest
body of water in the United Kingdom.

THE CAMERA CONTINUES TO GLIDE OVER THE LOCH as bright green arrows with dates appear on various spots of the frame. These are the dates when the Loch Ness Monster was spotted, as well as the location.

NARRATOR
Beneath the surface of Loch Ness lies
its biggest mystery; mythical creatures
that have supposedly dwelled there for
thousands of years.

THE CAMERA FLIES OVER THE LOCH, PASSING THE FAMED RUINS OF URQUHART CASTLE (where hundreds of sightings have occurred).

Transposed on the water surface are also various newspaper clippings about the monster, or "Nessie" as it is referred.

The Credits roll to an end and the CAMERA DESCENDS INTO THE WATER AND HOVERS THROUGH THE DARK, MURKY DEPTHS

NARRATOR
There are things that are known, and
things that are unknown. Whatever is left
is generally accepted as truth. This is
wisdom. The legend of Loch Ness leans
towards the unknown--but with a twist...

A vague shadow passes before the CAMERA and disappears...
